Beyond the Standard: Bespoke solutions, IE5 motors, and challenges overcome in the field of ultra-low NOx emissions.
From flexibility for OEM partners to the design of high-capacity burners: Alessio Visentin explains how Baltur’s engineering DNA transforms the most complex requirements into highly efficient operational realities.
Baltur’s Technological ‘Tailor-Made’ Approach
In a global market that demands increasingly specific solutions, the ability to adapt is the true added value. For Baltur, customisation is not an exception, but a strategic pillar. It enables us to offer OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) partners unique and distinctive solutions, capable of seamlessly integrating the burner into the design and identity of their end product.
The Power of Customisation: Putting the Customer at the Centre
What are the ‘special burners’ and bespoke solutions that are currently your flagship products?
“Our ability to customise,” explains Alessio Visentin, “is a genuine core strength. We don’t just supply a component; we co-create the product with the customer, tailoring every detail to their specific requirements. From a technological perspective, a prime example is our range of electronic cam burners with outputs between 800 kW and 3,600 kW. Here, we have introduced a cutting-edge solution: for the inverter-equipped versions, we use IE5-class permanent magnet synchronous electric motors. This represents the highest efficiency currently available on the market, translating into extraordinary energy savings on the burner’s electricity consumption.”
Efficiency Record: The Challenge of 15 MW and Ultra-Low NOx
Can you tell us about a recent technical challenge linked to a specialised plant? What difficulties did you overcome?
“It was an exciting challenge. One of our key OEM partners asked us to develop 15 MW burners with extremely low NOx emissions ($NO_x < 60\text{ mg/Nm}^3 \text{ @ } 3\% \ O_2$) for two world-renowned Italian industrial companies. At the time, our SLX range only went up to 5 MW, so we didn’t have a ready-made unit in our catalogue.
Instead of backing down, we drew on all our expertise:
- Rapid engineering: We scaled up the SLX technology in record time.
- Rigorous testing: We built a prototype and tested it in our R&D laboratory, precisely simulating the conditions inside the combustion chamber of the customer’s boiler. We then invited the OEM to witness the final tests and shared the results with them.
- The Result: In just two months, we delivered a flawless solution. It was a proud moment for the company: we didn’t give up in the face of what seemed unachievable, proving that with Baltur’s expertise and determination, any technical challenge can be overcome.”
